The Town of Islip welcomed the USAF Thunderbirds as they touched down at Long Island MacArthur Airport Friday. As the team prepares for the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach Memorial Day weekend, MacArthur Airport will be their home base.
Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, along with George Gorman, Deputy Regional Director, NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; Shelley La Rose-Arken, MacArthur Airport Commissioner and State Parks staff, greeted USAF Thunderbirds Commander/Leader John Caldwell, Pilot #1 and his team upon arrival.
“The Bethpage Air Show is a thrilling and memorable experience enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people, not just from Long Island, but from all over,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “The Town of Islip is proud to welcome the USAF to Long Island MacArthur Airport, and wishes them all the best this weekend,” she added.
